[Don sends Leo off to battle today. He's not worried, only slightly disappointed that he doesn't get to go too.]

[When it becomes clear that the weather is settling in for a good storm, Don begins setting up a day's worth of entertainment.]

[The journal feed comes on with a shaky image of a television screen. After a few moments the picture stabilizes, and Don leans over to address his audience upside-down.]

Hi everyone. I'm going to be watching some movies while we wait out this weather. You're welcome to join me.

[Anyone in Luceti, with or without power, so long as they have a journal handy, may see the following films, with short breaks in between:

10:00 AM: "Star Wars: A New Hope"
12:30 PM: "Jurassic Park"
3:00 PM: "The Last Samurai"

After a somewhat longer break for dinner, the movies will resume.

7:00 PM: "Beauty and the Beast" (Before starting this film, Don will filter the video feed against

tailasoldastime. He'll unfilter when the movie ends.)
9:00 PM: "The Elephant Man"

... Don has never seen this last one all the way through. Maybe tonight he can finally do it.]

[While watching the movies, Don will work on restoring the computer files he deleted during last month's experiment.]

[Look at the turtle man! James barely blinks an eyelash. He does find himself intrigued by the movies, and without anything better to do.]

Never heard of Star Wars.

[Of course the minute the ships appear, James is even more intrigued! They look nothing like ships from home.]

Space opera? Hmm

[He sleeply said to the book as he flips it open to see the movie just as he wakes up]

[For a moment, he wants to say that's impossible. But... but the turtle sitting next to him... well, Ingrid said in one world, he was fictional as well.

[Softly:] But... he seems like a nice person to me.

[Sincerely:] He's my hero.

[He's quiet a moment, watching Belle greet the townspeople, then says:] I think she was my first crush.

It's the best.

[Normally he would ask who Drake is, but what's the difference? Everybody likes action movies with dinosaurs!]

[Honestly, 'space opera'? You need to sit down, shut up, and get converted to the cinematic religion that is George Lucas's greatest work.]

Mm-hmm. [Who else would it be?]

What. [James sounds honestly confused and indigent.]

It reminds me of the old space operas from home! Besides space battle looks nothing like that! And where the hell are the biodomes on the ships?

[Poor man from the future. Everything he knows is wrong, at least according to Lucas.

However the story is interesting enough.]

This is nothing like daytime TV. This is about good and evil and the fate of the universe. And give the effects guys a break, it was the 70's.

Daytime TV? Space Operas as Daytime TV? ...What.

[Wrong kind of Space Opera. Think Space Opera Premise in huge Holo-theater. Pick your point of view! Fun for the whole family as you can pick your rating too!

James tone is slightly wary on the next question.]

...Which group of 70's do you mean?

Guess he was an actor when he was younger, cool.

[Don is thinking more along the lines of Master Splinter's "stories", only set on a spaceship. Which would already be an improvement, though still not in the same league as Star Wars.]

The 1970's. When this movie was made. And when we barely had space travel in the real world.

Ah, no, he worked on a farm...

[You should have watched the beginning of the movie.]

[Yes, James sounds shocked beyond all reason. That was a long time ago. That's even farther back than the 2000's!

James is suffering from Culture shock, allow him a moment to reboot.]

[... In a way, Belle does look like the sort of person one would have feelings for. Soft, pretty, slim... Not that Robert is much of a judge.

But someone Don has feelings for... or had feelings for - must be a wonderful person.

[Taking this as a backhanded compliment.] Yes, I know, I come from a world of primitive backward science. Should I expect you to have produced a better science fiction movie by tomorrow?

[Stopping there, Robert? How disappointing.]

[Hardly stopping. Robert would hold Don's hand if he wanted - he just doesn't want to impose on him now, especially when too much body heat might be a bad thing.

[... All this singing and dancing is reminding him of himself as a princess...]

[Fine, be that way. Don scoots over six inches to sit shoulder-to-shoulder with Robert.]

[He gestures to the screen, where Maurice is showing Belle his new invention.]

I always watch this scene twice when I'm alone.

[James is silent a moment, confused.]

What? I never said anything about your world! We haven't even met!

...Have we?

Aren't you the one who implied that SHELL does nothing more than play with chemistry sets and robot kits?

[Oh, this is nice. Robert smiles and shuffles to press into Don's side, comfortingly revelling in the heft of his side against him.]

Oh...? Is this a scene you enjoy, then?
