... Really? Um - so we were trying to help him escape, but of course it's illegal to help a criminal, so there were warrants out for our arrest also... which is why we didn't have a lot of time for sight-seeing.

Um... the United States used to be a colony of England, but then they established themselves as a separate country. The Fourth of July is the day they became independent. Symbolically, at least.

You see, the people living in America were really from England, so they were still subjects of the English government. But after a while, there were so many of them, and their lives were so different from the people back at home, that they wanted to form their own country. England didn't want that to happen, but America did it anyway... so every year Americans celebrate that separation.
