Thirty-Seventh Theory [Voice/Action for Housemates]

Helios, I need to talk to you. About your barrier.

[After this conversation, Don will attempt to occupy himself around the house. He swore off his tools and computer earlier in the week, and hasn't quite figured out yet how to fill his time without them. While he putters, he'll wonder whether anyone will remember that it's his birthday. Probably not. It's an arbitrary date, anyway - unlike six days from now, which will mark his one-year anniversary in Luceti.]

[The thoughts put him in a melancholy mood. Or maybe that's because it's been snowing for three days straight; or maybe it's because yesterday's events have taken a toll on his energy. Whatever the reason, it is a quiet and reflective Donatello that his housemates will find if they come looking for him.]

[As Don wanders around during the day, Raph's trying to inconspicuously move all his crap back into his brothers' room. He hasn't had this much junk in his room since he used to share with Mikey, and he definitely doesn't miss it. He likes his space as Spartan as possible, thanks.]

[Don will wander back into his room just in time to catch Raph trying to cram some stuff into a drawer. This panics him for reasons completely unrelated to his renunciation of his tools.]

What are you doing??!

Puttin' your stuff back! I told you I don't want it.

Get out of my room.

[Well that was unexpected. Raph's eyes widen in surprise, and he throws his hands up in a defensive gesture.]

Jeez, sorry. I let you in my room.

[Don crosses the room in two steps and slams the drawer shut, using rather more force than necessary.]

Out.

I'm goin'! I'm goin' already!

[And he does go, but not without slamming the door behind him, making a dive into his room, and slamming that door too. He does not like being put out, but fighting with Don when he gets like this isn't worth it. Still makes him feel like crap, though. So on goes his angry music.]

[After the music goes on, Don slides the drawer open again, lifts up a stack of papers at the back, and touches what's hidden underneath. Still there. He hangs his head and wonders whether he shouldn't just tell Raph the truth.]

[Well, if Don decides to come out in the near future, he'll find Raph duct taping a handwritten 'Keep Out' sign to his door. Nobody's allowed in his room now. They've lost their right.]

[Some time later, Don will open his door, see the new sign taped to the door opposite, hesitate a moment, then cross the hall and knock loudly.]

Oh Donatello! It's been awhile since we last spoke. What is it? Everything alright?

[Raph won't bother turning down his music or opening the door more than a crack. He gives Don a glare though the few inches of space.]

Can't you read?

[At one point, April will wander out of her room, where she has been spending most of her time since getting back. She observes the keep out signs and, with a sigh, knocks on Don's door.]

I'm not coming in. I just want to talk to you.

About what?

No. [He'll get right to the point.] Helios, what would happen if something exploded inside your barrier?

Two things that I should have told you a long time ago.

Oh. Oh my. Um, y-yes well. Nothing should happen really. I mean the barrier should contain the explosion. How big are we talking? [ This does not sound good. ]

Okay...

[Have an odd look. Way to catch him off guard twice in one afternoon.]

[Don looks at his feet for a moment, scuffs them against the floor, then opens his palm to reveal a jar whose label proclaims it to be 'Vitashell (for healthy shells and shell hinges)'.]

This is what the statue gave me for Christmas. I didn't want you to find it.

[Raph looks at the container, back at Don's face. Back to the container again, then back to Don's face one last time before cracking a grin he just can't help. It's too damn funny. He can't keep himself from busting out laughing.]

Shell wax? This's what you were all bent outta shape about? [Yeah, he's totally laughing at you.]

I don't know. But - what if someone was in there with it?

[Don will take Raph's undisguised amusement as a sign that yes, he's been acting stupid. He still doesn't really want the stuff.]

If you're so unbothered by it, it's yours.

[And he flips the tin towards Raph's chest. Catch it, or it will probably make a splattery mess on the floor.]

[Raph does catch it, still chuckling and wiping tears of mirth from his eyes while he inspects the tin again.]

Oh, that's just classic.

[Yes, it's very funny. Don is about to turn and leave, but then he remembers there was a second thing he meant to say. So instead he'll wait for you to stop laughing and be ready to hear it.]
