Luceti Character Relationships

* He's met you in passing.
** He's had a few conversations with you.
*** He's learned some things about you.
**** He knows you pretty well.
***** You have no more secrets.

+ You met him, and didn't attack him or call him a freak. Therefore, he likes you.
++ You've proved yourself to have some positive qualities, rather than just an absence of negative ones.
+++ You have earned his respect.
++++ You are a close friend.
+++++ Either you are a member of his actual family, or you have been adopted.

- You rubbed him the wrong way, but his mind can still be changed.
-- He doesn't like you. He'll still be polite, though.
--- He'd rather not talk to you. If he has to, he'll be pretty cold.
---- He's actively avoiding you. If he does run into you, he'll probably draw his weapon.
----- I don't know what you did to piss off the pacifist Turtle this badly, but you had better hope you don't meet him again.

Canon Relationships

Leonardo ***** +++++

Sometimes Don wishes he had a brother who really understood what he was doing in his lab. Other times, he's just grateful to have a brother who can be trusted not to destroy his experiments. Leo stays out of Don's doing-brilliant-science domain, Don stays out of Leo's creating-ingenious-strategies domain, and everyone gets along just fine. Better than fine, actually. Aside from Don, Leo is the calmest and most even-tempered of the brothers, and so Don finds him the least exhausting to spend time with. Don tries hard not to have a favorite brother, but if he's being honest with himself, he does have a favorite, and it's Leo.

Raphael ***** +++++

Raph's default solution to any problem is "Break it." In calmer moments, though (rare as they may be), Raph has a surprising talent for fixing things. He can generally be trusted with simple household repairs, and he is downright devoted to tuning up his Shell Cycle. On occasion, he can even sit still, watch Don do more difficult work, and learn how to do it himself. But only if Don doesn't tell anyone he does this. It would be bad for his rep. Don isn't always quite sure how he got chosen to be Raph's confidante and secret-keeper, but he does his best not to violate that trust.

Michelangelo ***** +++++

Don's baby brother, and his Chief Inventing Muse. Mike has a singular talent for coming up with interesting and creative ideas. This is mostly because he doesn't give any thought to such limitations as Available Resources, Non-Omnipotence of Mutant Turtles, and Laws of Physics. Still, Don is able to bring an astonishing number of Mike's ideas to fruition, and he never would have attempted any of them if left to his own devices. Plus, Mike is always able to detect the precise moment when Don's brain is about to explode, and provide a suitable distraction. These abilities generally make up for Mike's complete inability to enter Don's lab without breaking something. ("ItwasanaccidentIswear!")

Master Splinter ***** +++++

What is there to say about Master Splinter? He's everything to Don. The father who gracefully handled the upbringing of four rambunctious boys. The protector who kept them alive against all odds. The teacher who taught them everything he could and then, most preciously, taught them how to teach themselves. Don was in Luceti for a year before Splinter arrived, and in that year he grew up very differently from how he would have with his father's guidance. Don doesn't regret those changes, though, and it's making it hard for him to readjust to Splinter's presence. This relationship is unbreakable, but it's going to have to bend a lot in the months to come.

The Shredder ** -----

Oroku Saki. Ch'rell. The Shredder. Whatever name he goes by, he is the Turtles' number one enemy. His absence was one of Don's favorite things about Luceti. A meeting between them will surely not go well.

Karai ** ----

Don doesn't hate Karai as much as he hates Shredder. He's more... wary of her. She's helped his family as often as she's hurt them, and she's made no serious attempt to attack them in Luceti. Still, when Don crosses Karai's path, he makes sure to note where the escape routes are.

Luceti Relationships

Robert **** +++++

A Turtle who was raised to fear scientists and a socially inept astrobiologist - it doesn't exactly sound like a match made in heaven, but it's working out surprisingly well. Or it might, if Don can get over his painful shyness surrounding intimate relationships, accept that someone really does love him that way, and convince his family that said person isn't plotting to kill them all. Even heaven, it seems, has its rough patches.

Winry *** ++++

Winry was a very good friend to Don... then he had to go and blow it by confessing his feelings for her. Since then she's still been reliably present when his family needs her, but they aren't close the way they had been. Don deeply regrets pushing Winry away like that, and still hopes that one day they might travel the multiverse together.

Isamu *** ++++

Don first met Isamu as Raph's quasi-illicit martial arts student. Then he met Isamu as the wiseass he was supposed to train into a worthwhile sparring partner. And then he met Isamu as a true friend who could be counted on to show up and pitch in when things get rough. The teen has healed both Don and Raph when they were injured, and for someone like that Don is willing to put up with any amount of juvenile backtalk.

Helios *** +++

When Don first met Helios, he didn't care for the wizard's "it only exists if you believe in it!" kind of logic. But since then, Don has gotten to know Helios as an honest, trustworthy, intelligent person. It didn't hurt that Helios turned out to be a teacher; in fact, he was one of Donatello's teachers at Luceti's school until Don dropped out.

Raine Sage *** +++

Professor Sage is like a wonderful blend of Leonardo, Master Splinter, and April: She's intelligent, caring, calm-natured, and has an incredible passion for learning and teaching. Becoming her student, and finding out a certain secret, have only made Donatello feel closer to her.

Jay * ---

Don hasn't even met Jay in person yet, but he really doesn't like him. Jay managed to get into fights with both Raph and Leo, leaving both of them much the worse for the encounter. Then, he had the nerve to mention the fights to Don and insinuate that none of it was at all his own fault. Don hates revenge games, but this is one feud he might not be able to stay out of.

Jack Sparrow * -

Jack seems to have a gleeful disregard for life, liberty, and the pursuit of one's own definition of happiness; a disregard that applies equally to plants, animals, and mutant turtles. Don suspects that Jack is the kind of dangerous reprobate who would get him drunk, skin him alive, and then show off his new green coat to all his friends. Consequently, Don would rather stay far away from the squid-loving pirate.
