Fifty-Second Theory [Action]

[Anyone visiting, or working at, the clinic this afternoon will surely hear a sudden commotion from one of the lab rooms. If they investigate, or merely wait until the perpetrators burst out of the room, they will find two anthropomorphic turtles and some kind of human-monkey hybrid, all looking quite agitated.]

[Before the bursting-out, the following exclamations may be heard through the door:]

Leo, what are you doing in my lab? And who are you?

[There's muttering after the first voice, before a second truly speaks up.]

You! What are you doing here, freak!

[There is a brief moment of silence after the second voice sounds, just long enough for the echoes to drift through the hallway. Then... a clipped, terse, but possibly-almost-recognizable voice - without its usual accent - speaks:]

If I don't get answers as to why I'm here immediately, neither of you are going to be walking out that door.

folklorist: (Well this is certainly a mess)

Robert fer sure and anyone else. All the people!

[ Helios is just walking to the clinic in town, probably to get some supplies because you can never be too prepared. He hears the commotion inside one of the labs. Naturally he'll go in to investigate what's happening so have one concerned looking headmaster. ] Hello?

\o/ All the people!

[identity profile] capuchinja.livejournal.com 2011-10-23 10:40 pm (UTC)(link)
[The moment the door swings open, Audubon's back is to the wall, and he's pressed against it, eyes sweeping the room. The muscles in his arms stand out as he holds himself at attention, ready for whatever it is - come what may, he'll survive. He always manages to, somehow.

This probably won't be a usual sight for Helios.]
folklorist: (Well this is certainly a mess)

[personal profile] folklorist 2011-10-24 12:02 am (UTC)(link)
[ Helios walks through, with slight trepidation, his green eyes sweeping the room as he does so. And no it's not a usual sight, not at all. When he sees Robert, or Audubon, Helios pauses green eyes widening a little. ] R-Robert?! Y-You're back!

[ Albeit you are looking quite different and strangely not yourself. This is very strange, very very strange. ]

[identity profile] capuchinja.livejournal.com 2011-10-24 12:58 am (UTC)(link)
[What is with this name and him...? Audubon sets his jaw, whisking his tail, and appraises Helios cautiously.]

... Audubon. That's my name.

[That's definitely a combat stance that Audubon is in. Though he doesn't rush to attack Helios, he definitely won't be above hurting him to get away if he has to. Which Robert would never be able to fathom on his own.]
folklorist: (I don't honestly know)

[personal profile] folklorist 2011-10-24 01:35 am (UTC)(link)
[ Helios holds up his hands in what is supposed to be a placating gesture. He might move away from Audubon frowning still. ]

N-No it's...it's not. Well not usually. Your, your name really is R-Robert. A different you is named Robert.

[identity profile] capuchinja.livejournal.com 2011-10-24 01:53 am (UTC)(link)
A different me. [It sounds ridiculous, really. And yet, isn't it theoretically possible? Sort of? He's heard leading Turtle physicists discuss it, sometimes, when he could tap into broadcasts. But...]

... What do you mean by "different"? A Turtle? [Normal?]
folklorist: (Curiousity killed the cat you know?)

[personal profile] folklorist 2011-10-24 02:09 am (UTC)(link)
Ah no, not a turtle. [ Though there was that one time, but for arguments sake he won't bring that up. ] You're human, Rob-Audubon. You're like me, actually.

[ Decidedly human and without the tail. ]

[identity profile] capuchinja.livejournal.com 2011-10-24 03:03 am (UTC)(link)
[Human. Okay. He's hearing this word a lot. And humans seem to have fur but much less, and no tails...]

There are so many of these "human" creatures here...

... That makes no sense. How could my species change? [And he's only ever been a capuchin - smaller, furrier - before. Not one of these human things.]
folklorist: (I don't honestly know)

[personal profile] folklorist 2011-10-24 03:38 am (UTC)(link)
Yes most of us are humans. But, ah I-I'm not sure it's so much a species change than a w-world change really. [ A frown as he starts a small pace. ]

There's people from lots of-of different worlds here.

[identity profile] capuchinja.livejournal.com 2011-10-24 05:28 am (UTC)(link)
[He's never heard anybody else stammer before, besides himself. That's strangely comforting.

Still, he's not underestimating this one.]

... What do you mean, "world change"...? This obviously isn't New York, but... I didn't do anything to go to another world. [Hell, he hadn't done anything to go much of anywhere. Just a routine foray to the surface, nothing more...]
folklorist: (Pacing)

[personal profile] folklorist 2011-10-24 09:57 pm (UTC)(link)
Well it's...complicated. It's called shifting here. But, ah, the Malnosso or we think it's the Malnosso. Have brought you and I here from our respective worlds. I come from Earth as well but we're obviously not from the same Earth.

[ Helios stops in his pacing looking back at Robert. ]

Hence you coming from a different world than my own or even here. I suspect it's...a parallel dimension that they took you from, one of the many versions of Earth that there seems to be.

[identity profile] capuchinja.livejournal.com 2011-10-24 10:09 pm (UTC)(link)
[Obviously. Audubon crosses his arms lightly, studying this... human-type with a slightly raised eyebrow. Alright, so he says there might be parallel dimensions; that's certainly not proven, but it's not totally crazy, and the information he's gleaned so far suggests it.]

And then your "Robert" must come from a different one... is this "Shifting" a kind of technology?
folklorist: (Dour. Something is coming)

[personal profile] folklorist 2011-10-24 10:41 pm (UTC)(link)
Yes! Exactly. A different you with...with different attributes and everything. [ Helios shifts at the gaze Audubon gives him. ]

Shifting...it m-might be. We aren't given a lot of in-information on it unfortunately.

[identity profile] capuchinja.livejournal.com 2011-10-24 11:26 pm (UTC)(link)
It sounds crazy, but everything here is.

Who are these Malnosso? I keep hearing about them - I know they're who have us trapped here, but that's it. [And they experiment on them. He wants to say they're like the Turtle scientists that ran the labs...]
folklorist: (Do go on I'm listening)

[personal profile] folklorist 2011-10-25 03:29 am (UTC)(link)
You can certainly say that again.

An organization apparently who preform experiments on us in attempts to get us back home. They also...make us fight their war for them. [ There's a slight tone on animosity in his voice. ]

[identity profile] capuchinja.livejournal.com 2011-10-25 04:25 am (UTC)(link)
... Experiments on us? [That gets a slight twitch of a tail.]

I've heard of monsters like that. I fight against them, when I can, from the shadows.
folklorist: (I don't honestly know)

[personal profile] folklorist 2011-10-27 05:41 pm (UTC)(link)
Yes experiments. [ His expression is a dour one. ] Fight against them...

We do our best, really, but it's hard when you're stuck inside a barrier. [ A prison would be a better term but it's rather harsh to call it as such, especially to someone unfamiliar with everything. ]

[identity profile] capuchinja.livejournal.com 2011-10-27 09:24 pm (UTC)(link)
... We're trapped in this place? [Trapped with all those people he doesn't know? A species he can't even understand...

Audubon begins pacing, his fur bristling as he stalks around in the lab.]

... Is there some kind of security code? I've broken those before.
