[The video feed clicks on, and Don looks thoughtfully at the camera for a moment before speaking.]

Another Christmas in Luceti.

[His tone is direct, just stating a fact, but somewhere behind it is a note of melancholy.]

This is my third. All of them have been in this house. All of them have been with different people.

[He slides back from the journal, revealing a corner of his winter room. He's been gradually moving into it over the past week, and has more or less taken up residence now.]

I've seen a lot of people come and go. There probably aren't many left who remember when Luceti didn't have electricity.

[He picks up some small bit of tech and squints at it.]

When I arrived here, the drafts were just starting. There were no missions. The Battle Dome didn't exist. We didn't have a farm and there was a desert where the ocean is now.

[He carefully threads a length of wire through a hole in the tech part.]

The buildings were shorter. Some of the stores and restaurants weren't open. [A pause.] I think I'm forgetting things...

[The wire slides through, and he knots the loose ends to form a loop.]

Does anyone remember other things that have changed? Or, does anyone want a history lesson? I'll be here all day.

What do you do with Pokemon, Blue?

I'll be glad to introduce you two sometime.

[What does she do with Pokemon.]

Well, I'm a trainer. I train them and they help me every day when I need it. We fight battles together too.

[Cautiously:]

Is it like a martial art?

A martial arts? No, nothing like that. I don't really know how to fight by myself. [unless she has to do so somehow anyways.]

But you train them to fight? [...] Or do those two things not go together?

[hrmm, what could be a better way to explain this.]

Well, Pokemon can fight on their own using special abilities. For example, my Blastoise is a water Pokemon; it can pump water out of it's shell cannons to attack. [or fly] You train them to better use their abilities and learn new attacks.

[Cautiously intrigued:] Shell cannons?

Blastoise is like a giant tortoise or turtle, so on it's shell it has a pair of cannons that can blast water out of them. It's really useful, and other than that it almost looks like a normal tortoise. [except it's blue and a pokemon.]

... How can I get some.

[Blue giggles.]

I'm not sure that you can, Blastoise gained them when he evolved from Wartortle.

When he did what?

Evolved, transformed, changed, all would fit. Think about it like if you reached a point in your life were you changed into a stronger, different forms.

That happened to me and I didn't get shell cannons.

[Only a bipedal stance, opposable thumbs, enhanced intelligence, power of speech, and etc. Nothing interesting.]

Did it? Maybe you have to evolve once more in order to get them. [though she's just teasing him there.] It took Blastoise two evolutions.

[A too-long pause, as he actually considers this.]

Can I meet him?

[Meet him? There's another pause as Blue considers this, there isn't any problem with that. None that she can think of, and it might be nice for Blasty to meet others.]

Of course, I'd be glad if you did.

When would be a good time?

Anytime you're free, I have a open schedule.

In a few weeks, maybe? I'm a little busy right now.
