((Continuity notes: While taking care of Polka after she collapsed, Don and Raph learned that Leo had been mallynapped. They promptly barricaded themselves in Polka's room, but quickly realizing that this was not a long-term solution, they determined to Get Serious about their plans to disrupt the barrier and escape.))

[This morning, the Turtle Twosome can be found stalking around Luceti, sticking close to one another and glaring at everyone else as though just daring them to turn into giant brother-stealing robots.

Their first stop is the library, where they will spend a couple hours poring over books about electricity, magnetism, plasma, and other esoterica. (Well, mostly Don is poring while Raph runs books back and forth from the shelves.)

Later they descend upon the smithy, rummaging through the items there and carrying off a number of metallic parts.

After that they go directly to the item shop, where they bin-dive for more random-seeming objects.

Then, they retreat to C6, lock the door, and start assembling their booty into a device that is essentially the World's Most Awesome Lightning Rod.

In the evening, when it is slightly less excessively hot, they will emerge again, to spend some time cooling off at the lake. This will largely consist of long periods of sitting underwater, punctuated by brief forays to the surface for air.]

Heh. Can't say I blame you. What are you going to power it on?

[Ah, alpha males and their toys. Changing the subject again:] What tunnels are these, Smoker? I don't think I've heard of them.

[Smoker's got a bike too? The old man's just gained some coolness points.]

They run from the center of town to out in the desert. [Gestures vaguely.]

Really? Where's the entry point?

Right in the front of the shops actually. Well more in the center outside, but yeah. Hell, look out the window, you can probably see it from here.

[Pause.] Hn. The... turtle or human thing? Whichever?? Isn't a power is it? They don't work down there. Devil fruits included.

The... what? No, it's not -- it's a hybridization of our DNA. I think. Are you saying, that if we went in the tunnels, we would de-mutate?

Hm. I don't think so. I'm not sure if devil fruits work the same way as that... but if they did, Blackbeard couldn't have stolen Whitebeard's. So you're probably safe.

...I really don't like that idea.

Then avoid them. It's a giant hole in front of the shops. Straw-Hat fell in, but that's not saying much. He could probably fall anywhere.

[Don shares a glance with Raph - Smoker probably doesn't realize what they would de-mutate into, but the two Turtles sure do.]

[Then back to the marine:] What are you looking for, down there?

A few people used it as prison cells I'm told. If something more formal could be made, at least there could be actual consequences to some of the bullshit people do around here.

I'm all for that.

[Nods.] Even if people don't die as permanently, doesn't mean people should be allowed to dissolve into anarchy. [Eyes narrow.] Especially when only a very select few actually want that.

Well it's a good thing those tunnels take away powers, otherwise we'd never be able to hold 'em. People would just magic their way out.

It seems kind of cruel...

Got a better idea for someone who finds it funny to throw flaming trees or unleash flesh-eating butterflies?

Yeah, Don. I say lockin' 'em up is goin' easy on them.

There's a difference between putting someone in a cage, and putting someone in a cage and drugging them until they can't move.

They're not incapable of moving. Just of using their powers. And if they're only going to use it to hurt other people they've lost the right to that.

My point is, for at least some of the people here, magic is an ingrained ability. Taking it away from them would be like taking away our ability to walk, or see, or think. It isn't right to do that to someone. Even if they are a criminal.
