Er... presumably a combination of factors, with intolerable conditions gradually accumulating to the point where they outweighed the people's reluctance or inability to effectually revolt against their government. [A pause, then more confidently:] Though once the movement got under way a change of government was brought about in only three years and four months, with the republic being proclaimed in September of 1792.
