[Don is feeling a little claustrophobic today. The number of vehicles he has stashed in his workroom has increased to five over the past week, and he's running out of room to build more. He'd been hoping that the wet, overcast weather would break so he could take his work outside, but that didn't exactly pan out. It is sunny today, but it's also unseasonably cold.]

[Determined to continue his work anyway, Don has shoved all the furniture out of the way and set up camp in the living room, surrounded by a mass of lightweight canvas and metal struts. Hang-glider Number Four is now Under Construction.]

[It's been quite some time since he asked a general question over the journals, so he decides to do so now. Companionable conversation is just what he needs to make the repetitive work go faster.]

If you had access to Shifting technology, and could change something about the world - what would you do? How long would you make it last?

[He also has some things he wants to talk about with Mike and Master Splinter - separately, that is. If they don't stop by while he's working, he'll be looking for them later.]

Oh, I haven't, as much as I'd love to take a trip into outer space, or maybe stop by another dimension for a while... If the Malnosso's technology makes it possible to take people from other worlds, I don't see why it can't make visiting these places possible too.

[Conspiratorially:] I've been to other worlds.

Oh? [He's perking up to this.] Where have you been? What are these worlds like?

They tend to be a little like Luceti, actually.

Ah, well, in other worlds it seems common to have many kinds of sapients living together.

Really? Did you run across more turtles, like yourself? Or other kinds?

No. No other turtles. [Unless you count those vaguely turtle-like beings whose places he and his brothers accidentally took at the Battle Nexus.]

But still, it must have been cool to meet more non-human sapients. I know I'd jump at the chance to meet other species like that.

Honestly, a lot of them are pretty disappointing.

I doubt I'd be disappointed in them. Other species with human-intelligence would be so fascinating... unless they were all giant parasites, of course.

What about dinosaurs that make other sapients fight each other as a form of entertainment?

Did you say dinosaurs? They were sapient dinosaurs? That's like every geek kid's dream come true. I was more of an astronomy fan than paleontology, as much, but still, who isn't fascinated by gigantic prehistoric creatures that could level a house... and there's so much we don't know about them where I'm from.

[If it's unexplained somehow, Mulder is drawn to it mostly just so he can try and figure it out.]

...ok, back on track though, I don't think what you've described sounds like a remotely pleasant experience.

They're ten-foot-tall barbarians who blew up their own planet.

On the other hand, they're advanced enough to have invented pretty sweet space cruisers. I did enjoy stealing one.

And that's why such power needs to be out of the hands of those who would abuse it. The space cruiser sounds like a pretty good compensation for having to deal with them.

They have a new leader now. I think things will be a lot different.

I'm glad to hear that it eventually worked out.
