[Don is feeling a little claustrophobic today. The number of vehicles he has stashed in his workroom has increased to five over the past week, and he's running out of room to build more. He'd been hoping that the wet, overcast weather would break so he could take his work outside, but that didn't exactly pan out. It is sunny today, but it's also unseasonably cold.]

[Determined to continue his work anyway, Don has shoved all the furniture out of the way and set up camp in the living room, surrounded by a mass of lightweight canvas and metal struts. Hang-glider Number Four is now Under Construction.]

[It's been quite some time since he asked a general question over the journals, so he decides to do so now. Companionable conversation is just what he needs to make the repetitive work go faster.]

If you had access to Shifting technology, and could change something about the world - what would you do? How long would you make it last?

[He also has some things he wants to talk about with Mike and Master Splinter - separately, that is. If they don't stop by while he's working, he'll be looking for them later.]

Hm. [That sounds reasonable.] So the Malnosso are trying to figure out how to send us home, but first they're going to make us fight their war?

Well I don't know if it's war or not, but why do you think the Party ended up omnicidal? There has to be something really bad outside the barrier which needs to be defeated or destroyed or whatever. Given the Malnosso aren't the ones which bring us to Luceti in the first place - well, ignoring inside the barrier - there has to be some other force doing that. It's probably also what blocks any control over who goes home or not.

Maybe they just hate outsiders.

That's assuming there are natives. I doubt if there are natives, let alone that they're the TPs.

They have Shifting ability and they're very territorial.

Where the hell are you getting territorial - from the intel we have going on their perspective their motives are altruistic.

I couldn't tell you what their motives are, but they certainly aren't very interested in talking.

The motives we've heard tale of from Rem and the General back in the day talk about freeing us. [ . . . ] Of course, the underlings might different, but still.

Yes, you're biased. The point isn't to sympathize with them, it's to understanding an overarching objective in order to say if they're native or not and what their outlook is and what I'm telling you is that it's a brash assumption to call them "territorial" or anything stupid like that.

Look - usually I'm interested in these things, but it doesn't really matter here. We have to fight whether we want to or not, and the Third Party definitely do their best to kill anyone the Malnosso send out there. I'm glad someone is trying to get a diplomatic understanding of the situation, but politics don’t help our friends on the battlefield.

Like I care about diplomacy...
