[Things have been remarkably normal for Don lately, a very tolerable mix of the mildly bad and the mildly good. On the one hand, he's coming down with a case of his annual flu, and he actually kind of misses his elf. On the other hand, his various lessons have been going well, he's enjoying the new toys Robert gave him for Christmas, and all the effort that went into creating the winter room has been entirely worth it.]

[In between keeping his hands and mind occupied, and lounging indolently just because he can for once, Don has made a habit of posing a random question over the journals every day. Today the low-grade fever is making it hard to think straight, so the question is a strange one:]

People. In Luceti. Are from different worlds. [Give him a minute, he's pretty sure he's going somewhere with this.] But. Some of us have a lot in common, in surprising ways. Who... Who in Luceti seems like, you know, like long-lost twins? Even if they maybe haven't met each other here yet.

Or. What combination of people here would just be... really interesting. I mean, if you put them together to make a new person. Who's different from anyone we already have.

[A long pause.]

I think I'm sick.

[He's going to. Um. Do something about that. Then he will be back to answer any comments.]

Well, I have been thinking if it could perhaps made a little bit of sense but alas, I have to conclude that it is mindless blathering instead.

I would believe any combination at all would result in something different, wouldn't it? The already subtle differences in a person would be more pronounced when combined and amplified by differing or similar traits of another, and there is no way to properly predict how two personalities would merge. There is an endless combination of new personalities you could get from the occupants here.

[He actually sort of understood that. Plus, well, even if it's not a personality-merge, he has a bit of experience on how combining people can affect their thoughts.]

[Robert hasn't been sure how to deal with Don's flu; influenza manifests itself a little differently in a Turtle, and in any case, proper "cure" of such a highly-variable virus is pretty much hopeless in Luceti. So he's been more or less reduced to treating the symptoms, and occasionally popping into the winter room to check on him.

He'd been just about to do that when he nearly runs into Don in the hall, looking less-than-well.]

... May I help you? [Because Don definitely looks like he needs it right now.]

It's just a flu. [The other part is more interesting.] Do you know two people who are like that?

I guess it kind of makes sense in a way. But, do you need something? Like medicine?

No, come on. [Why do so many people not understand this.] Some people just. Are very alike. You know?

[He sounds almost bored.] Considering the multitude of universes represented as a subsection of a potentially infinite multiverse, it'd be more unusual if people who were very similar didn't turn up.

Neither of them are here at the moment, but for people who were here, there was a pirate named Luffy who reminded me of my friend Natsu. [Which isn't all that surprising, since the world she comes from uses a lot of stock shonen archetypes.] And there's a girl named Elie who looks eerily similar to my friend Lucy - don't know her well enough to say if they act similarly, though.

I had a hard time wrapping my mind around the different world thing, too. Though, if you're sick... forgive me for assuming, but I hope you're not alone?
