Molly, Miss Sage - I've redrawn the blueprints.

The major change is that I gave up on the missiles, the generator, and the defensive capacities of the fort. Even with electricity, I wouldn't have been able to make them work. But, I found someone who can cast a magical barrier around the playground. He just needs everyone who should be allowed in to write down their own name. Miss Sage, if you could work on that list... ? There's no hurry, since we need to actually build the playground first, but it will take some time and we should get started.

Ah... I also put in floodlights; it seemed like a good idea...

What do you think, Molly? Does this design meet primary objectives?

[You're lying. He can tell. The only question is whether he's going to call you on it.]

Want to? Not really. Should? ... Okay, I'm getting up.

[This is going to hurt.]

C'mon, lazy-shell. [He thumps Don hard on the back of the shell.] Surprised that chair hasn't molded to your butt by now.

...Race ya! [Then he bolts out the room, heading for the front door.

Don't worry, Donnie, he'll go easy on you.]

[And just like that, Raph is gone. Don's exit is more of a shuffle. In the past two months, he's barely moved faster than a walk.] I'm coming, I'm coming.

[He crows over his shoulder.] Aw, c'mon. I've seen old ladies run faster than you!

Last one to the village cleans the bathroom!

[Yeah, yeah. He's going to end up cleaning the bathroom anyway. God forbid Raph should ever pick up after his slovenly self.]

[He hastens his pace a little, and follows Raph out of the building.]

[Raph's always been the slowest of the bunch. Not that he'd really need to be all that fast. Just fast enough. He never plans on running from a fight, and all that dodging and messing around is more Mike's style.

But today? Today he's kicking Don's ever-loving butt and it feels fantastic.

When they get to the village fountain, he'll even make a show out of waiting casually for him, leaning against the side of the structure like he'd been there all day.]

[He practically has been there all day, by the time Don shows up.

Don staggers across the square and slumps onto the edge of the fountain. Oh, man. A half-mile run should not be that difficult. He talks in between trying to get his breath back:]

Okay. Taunting. Thirty seconds. Go.

Nah, you're makin' it too easy! [He reaches to splash his bro with water instead.] It's worse than I thought.

[Oh, that feels good. Do it again, Raph.]

Isn't there any place to swim here? [Surely he could not have lost his ability to swim long distances without getting tired.]

There's a lake not too far from here, or... [He shoulders Don hard in the chest in an attempt to push him in.]

[He makes a reflexive grab for the outside edge of the ledge, but his fingers slip and he topples backwards into the fountain, barely missing hitting his head on the central part of it. He comes up spluttering, his feet still sticking out of the water.]

You're really trying to kill me, aren't you?

[Okay, now that's just funny. He can't help but laugh.] Ya looked hot! I'm doin' you a favor!

[He offers Don a hand to help him up.] Now quit lyin' around. We still gotta run back home.

[If Don were a different kind of Turtle, he would take this excellent opportunity to pull Raph down into the fountain with him. But he isn't, and he doesn't.]

No, come on. Let's do something. If you let me go home now, I probably won't leave again for a week.

[Up you go, bro. You totally missed your chance.]

Now you're just makin' excuses.

Making excuses for what? You want me to lock myself in my room again?

You just don't wanna run anymore. C'mon, Don, that was beyond pathetic! You're not gettin' off that easy.

What? No! I didn't mean "do something" as in "take a leisurely stroll to appreciate the local architecture"! I meant "do something" as in "go home by the long scenic route at a rapid pace that will probably result in the death of any out-of-shape mutant who attempts it"!

Well now you're talkin'! C'mon, I'll show you the lake!

[Then he takes off running southbound, letting his innate sense of direction guide him.

It's a solid four mile run, Donnie. Better keep up!]

[Good. If that conversation had taken any longer, Don would have regained his sanity and gone directly home by the shortest route. Instead, he brushes the water off his head and follows Raph towards and past their apartment building. Somewhere along the way to the lake, his legs remember their old rhythm, and he pushes through the pain and rediscovers how good it feels to just run.]

[Raph keeps his merciless pace whether he leaves Don behind or not. They're making it to that lake, and that's all he can think of.

The moment he reaches it, he dives into the freezing, swampy water. Two seconds later, he re-emerges with a yelp, scrabbling to get back on dry land.]

Okay, cold, COLD! Bad idea!

[He can't breathe. The fact that's he LAUGHING probably isn't helping.]

I'm - *gasp* - I'm sorry! I forgot the water hasn't warmed up yet!

[OR DID HE.]

[Now Raph is dripping wet and freezing his ever-loving tail off. This, of course, calls for a stroke of REVENGE! He strips his sodden mask off and stalks moodily over to Don, then promptly grabs the edge of his carapace, fully intending to wrestle his brother into the lake or die trying.]

I'll show you who's laughin'!

[Well, technically they both are, but that's besides the point.]

No no no no!

[Yeah, Don couldn't win this match even if he wasn't exhausted and out of shape. He is competely at your mercy.]

[... Come on, now. Are you really going to throw your sweet little brother into a freezing lake?]

Eat lake water, Brainiac!

[Then he practically throws Don bodily into the lake.]

AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA-AAAUUUUUGGGHHH!

[He hits the water backwards and sinks like a rock, before he gets his shiver-flailing under control and manages to kick back to the surface. He slogs to shore as fast as he can, and lays in the dirt, panting.]
