Molly, I'm sorry. The playground designs are going to take longer than I thought. Logistics interfered with the creative process. I'll have them to you as soon as I can.

Filtered to Sokka || 100% Unhackable

Sokka. I'm embarrassed that I didn't ask you any useful questions last week, and I'm downright ashamed that I haven't made it to the smithy yet. I need to start making up for these things, and I'm going to do that right now, by asking - what kind of materials and facilities do you have?

Unfiltered

I'd - like to learn about magic. Not that I want to learn magic, but I've heard that's possible here, and... I just want to know... what kind of feats can be performed with these elemental abilities?

Also, if anyone here had magic in their own world, and their powers still work in Luceti - I'd like to hear about that too.

I've seem some pretty impressive spells in my time here.

[identity profile] antisilent.livejournal.com 2010-03-18 03:02 am (UTC)(link)
Fireballs, for one. Aside from that, well... I'd advise you to spend an afternoon at the barracks on a rainy day.

A lot of what you might expect from stories growing up: Earth, wind, water, fire- [...heart, but he doesn't say that last one and instead shrugs-] I believe the most impressive I've seen is when people were fighting Aku in the square a while back.

[Voice]

[identity profile] antisilent.livejournal.com 2010-03-19 02:08 am (UTC)(link)
A lot of people inter-mix what you might call magic into conventional fighting. I've seen swords light on fire for little reason, for example.

I got two spells that'd do the job. One for lighter objects that'd give 'em a quick whack into the air and the weaker unaltered hurricane that should lift heavier stuff.

I still have my magical abilities from my world here. What about them would you like to hear?

[ voice ]

[identity profile] harmonicmelodia.livejournal.com 2010-03-18 12:48 am (UTC)(link)
To be honest, I am able to use any and all types of magic. From what I've learned from reading and listening to others, some have "elemental" factors in using their magics. For mine, that is not the case.

[ voice ]

[identity profile] harmonicmelodia.livejournal.com 2010-03-18 01:20 am (UTC)(link)
What you say in way it is truth and in a way it is not. I was not able to obtain the same abilities as any of my companions were able to in my world and the same was for them. My theory is I will contact the spirits of this world to obtain stronger magic. Of course this is all theory, I do not know if I was truly be able to obtain new magic or nothing happens at all.

[ voice ]

[identity profile] harmonicmelodia.livejournal.com 2010-03-18 01:34 am (UTC)(link)
Well I knew I was able to learn new magic since the world was my dream, but I wasn't certain what skills I would obtain and what ones I wouldn't. This sounds very complicated and confusing, I'm certain.

[ voice ]

[identity profile] harmonicmelodia.livejournal.com 2010-03-18 02:16 am (UTC)(link)
I'm sorry, perhaps I should explain myself better. [He clears his throat and then begins.] You see, back in my world I was sick. During the night, I found myself entering another world which was that of my dreams. Eventually my journey led me to believe the world was not exactly a dream after all, but a world of its own from within the realm of my mind. Of course, the end of the "dream" was an unfortunate one as something happened which caused my dream world to vanish and myself to survive the illness because of what I had done.

[ voice ]

[identity profile] harmonicmelodia.livejournal.com 2010-03-18 11:30 pm (UTC)(link)
The first part of your explanation sounds exactly what happened during my journey in my dream. The second part however about causing physical change to the real world, that didn't exactly happen in my world.

[ voice ]

[identity profile] harmonicmelodia.livejournal.com 2010-03-19 01:59 am (UTC)(link)
I think when I told you about my dream world, you were curious of that. Thus, I began to explain it to you and then we began discussing about dream-walking.

Oh, I have almost forgotten my manners. My name is Frederic Francois Chopin, a pleasure to meet you. May I have the honor of knowing your name?

[ voice ]

[identity profile] harmonicmelodia.livejournal.com 2010-03-19 03:51 am (UTC)(link)
Yes, I am Polka's friend named Frederic. And you are Donatello? [He pauses to think.] Wait, you are one of the turtle brothers named after the famous painter of the same name? Well, if it isn't a small world indeed.

[ voice ]

[identity profile] harmonicmelodia.livejournal.com 2010-03-19 10:55 am (UTC)(link)
You've heard of me, Donatello? I'm quite surprised. Then again, I certainly shouldn't be. It seems as if many from the present era seem to know of my name, unless you are not from the same present era as I've met with others.

[ voice ]

[identity profile] harmonicmelodia.livejournal.com 2010-03-20 03:34 am (UTC)(link)
Well in the present era, I'm known as quite a famous composer by many there. I thought you knew of me through my name as a famous composer, but I misunderstood you. I deeply apologize to you.

[ voice ]

[identity profile] harmonicmelodia.livejournal.com 2010-03-20 10:50 pm (UTC)(link)
[He laughs a little, rather amused by Donatello's actions. But he's rather use to it with other people by now.]

Of course I have, Donatello. And I thank you, I'm glad to meet another person who feels happiness when listening to my music.

[ voice ]

[identity profile] harmonicmelodia.livejournal.com 2010-03-21 04:23 am (UTC)(link)
[He's rather taken back by Donatello's forwardness, but truly appreciates the help.]

Well in all honesty, I've been using the piano at the Seventh Heaven restaurant. But I found my piano from home just recently at at the furniture store, so you see why I am in need of help moving it.

[His ears hear that second sentence and is smiling warmly at it.] I would be honored to play a piece for you, consider it as payment for your help with moving my piano.

[ voice ]

[identity profile] harmonicmelodia.livejournal.com 2010-03-21 10:24 pm (UTC)(link)
[Oh Donatello, you're such a fanboy. But Frederic doesn't mind, because you like his music and he really appreciates that.]

Could we meet in a few minutes? I know Polka told me your brother Raphael was going to help, but I was also told he's unwell.

Anything ranging from killing people instantly to healing people. Magic has a lot of uses truly. Most are going to be uses to harm however.

[identity profile] oracleofdeath.livejournal.com 2010-03-18 12:41 am (UTC)(link)
If you wish to think that. [She is a death goddess, it would be hoped killing is among her powers.]

[identity profile] oracleofdeath.livejournal.com 2010-03-18 12:44 am (UTC)(link)
What abilities are you looking for then? To describe them all would take far too long so I gave the range instead.

[identity profile] oracleofdeath.livejournal.com 2010-03-18 12:50 am (UTC)(link)
Moving objects isn't too hard. Are the objects able to be lifted by a single person or are they really large?

[identity profile] oracleofdeath.livejournal.com 2010-03-18 01:06 am (UTC)(link)
That could be more difficult, but considering the spell I use works for a group of people and what they are carrying, it might work.

[voice]

[identity profile] auror-dora.livejournal.com 2010-03-18 04:22 am (UTC)(link)
In a way. It'd probably have to be more specific than that, though, and it would depend on exactly what you wanted it to do. Most booby trap skills will go off whenever they are triggered, unless the person triggering it knows how to disarm it. There are some spells you can do that will only trigger upon a certain event, or even, in some cases, a specific person.

[voice]

[identity profile] auror-dora.livejournal.com 2010-03-19 03:02 am (UTC)(link)
[She pauses a moment, thinking.]

You could always draw an Age Line around the area. That lets only people above or below a certain age enter. Of course, you'd have to have one or two adults around who could disable it in case one of the kids got hurt or something...

[voice]

[identity profile] auror-dora.livejournal.com 2010-03-22 05:15 pm (UTC)(link)
[Time to put her "clever witch" cap on.]

I wonder if it would be possible to modify a barrier-spell to allow in anyone carrying a certain sort of object. Theoretically, each child and the supervising adults would be given one - something smaller and easy to carry around, perhaps a coin. Of course, it's not perfect, there's no way, even with magic, to completely prevent something bad from happening, but with responsible adult supervision to help compensate it could work pretty well.

[identity profile] 1week-wizard.livejournal.com 2010-03-18 03:43 am (UTC)(link)
I have nearly full access to all the spells I learned in my own world. I have also formed a contract with each of the spirits here to supplement my abilities.

I teach classes on weekdays in the Library if you wish to learn more.

[identity profile] eidolon-soul.livejournal.com 2010-03-18 04:43 am (UTC)(link)
The filial magic I've learned here allows healing and some minor elemental feats. I always recommend at least learning from the healing spirit, since it comes in handy around here. As for other filial magic, was there a particular element you were interested in?

I also have other magic that I learned in my world, though it's not as powerful in Luceti thanks to the barrier, of course. Do you want to know something specific about it, or just get a general idea?

[Voice]

[identity profile] eidolon-soul.livejournal.com 2010-03-19 04:52 am (UTC)(link)
Well, a lot of the magic I know is elemental-based; Fire, Blizzard, Thunder, and so on. I also know a few spells that affect targets without directly harming them, like Sleep. That filial healing magic was learned a long time ago, too. Oh, and I can teleport. That seems to come in handy for moving supplies around here.

I could be more specific, if there's a need, but I think that gives a good range of what I can do.

[Voice]

[identity profile] eidolon-soul.livejournal.com 2010-03-19 08:20 pm (UTC)(link)
I would have to be there; it's not like I can set a trap for someone in advance. I also need to be able to see them and be able to speak, since my magic is verbal-based.

[Voice]

[identity profile] eidolon-soul.livejournal.com 2010-03-20 11:51 pm (UTC)(link)
If it has to be done, I'm sure something can work out...but with the variety in magic that we have around here, I wouldn't be too surprised if there was someone who could work spells like that. Heh, they would have been convenient at home, too.

I wouldn't say we have "magic" in my world-- but that's a comparative statement. I've found the word loses more meaning the longer I'm here.

I've learned a good deal about filial magic, though. How I've been spending the past week or so, actually...

[ voice ]

[identity profile] one-green-eye.livejournal.com 2010-03-19 04:21 am (UTC)(link)
Well, I picked up healing and Faeren's magic pretty quickly.

Thought I'd try lightning, next. I've been working at it for a few days-- it's a tricky thing.

You were wondering what kinds of things can be learned, here? But-- you're not interested in learning, yourself?

[ voice ]

[identity profile] one-green-eye.livejournal.com 2010-03-19 10:57 am (UTC)(link)
Didn't think there was much to avoid in having the power to mend broken bones and prevent infection. And that without a price to pay.

Is magic so dangerous, where you're from?

[ voice ]

[identity profile] one-green-eye.livejournal.com 2010-03-20 08:51 pm (UTC)(link)
That's right. I heard about that...incident.

To be honest with you, though-- I think the word "magic" here is pretty meaningless. There are so many things that we aren't used to in our own homes, that are commonplace in other worlds.

Perhaps it would be best to take Filial magic on it's own terms, ehh? That's really all we can do with anything in this place. [He feels pretty strongly that everyone should learn healing magic...and not inclined to be subtle about it.]

[ voice ]

[identity profile] one-green-eye.livejournal.com 2010-03-23 01:10 am (UTC)(link)
Oh-- I certainly wouldn't assume I know even half of it.

[he smiles at that last statement] Ahh. I suppose I'm just used to stepping in when the conventional medicine fails. Different kinds of miracles.

Frankly, as much as I think everyone should take advantage of what Nala has to offer, I'm glad to here someone has knowledge not dependent on magic.

[ voice ]

[identity profile] one-green-eye.livejournal.com 2010-03-23 12:07 pm (UTC)(link)
